Welcome to Campus Without Walls, where Massachusetts teachers come together to transcend traditional educational boundaries. Our mission is to foster a vibrant community where educators collaborate to bring innovative, culturally responsive courses to students across the state. This initiative gives you the opportunity to lead and grow without having to leave your classroom. You’ll also have the chance to connect with other great teachers across the state as part of our vibrant Professional Learning Community.


How to Participate

Be a Lead Teacher

Join our elite group of Lead Teachers and help shape the educational landscape in Massachusetts. The criteria for Lead Teachers:

  • You must be recommended by your school leader in order to apply
  • Lead Teachers receive a $5,000 stipend through the Campus Without Walls Planning Grant.
  • You should be excited about the Campus Without Walls initiative
  • You must have a Minimum 5 years teaching experience
  • You must teach rigorous coursework and make it fun
  • You must use culturally affirming curriculum
  • You must have a demonstrated track record for excellence
  • You must care deeply about educational equity and want to make a difference
  • You should have a proven course that you are willing to bring online and share through the Campus Without Walls consortium
  • You must be approved by the Campus Without Walls Team
  • You must be able to participate in a monthly Community of Practice with other Lead Teachers Across the State

The Lead Teacher opportunity is available to Massachusetts teachers who teach Grades 9-12.

FAQs

What is the deadline to sign up to be a Lead Teacher?
  • We recruit Lead Teachers year-round, however, the deadline to apply each year is by December 12.

If we are not currently recruiting for the opportunity you are interested in, sign up for our mailing list for updates. 

Do I have to be nominated by my school leader?

Yes! As a Lead Teacher you will be representing your school, sharing virtual courses, with students across the state, and interacting with a network of other great teachers. If you have reached this webpage, you have probably already been recommend by your school leader. If not, and you want to be nominated, please reach out to a Campus Without Walls staff member for more information on our simple process.

Do I already need to have a course in mind to become a Lead Teacher?

Yes, and sort of! It should be a course that you have already taught successfully; however, the Campus Without Walls team can help you make it even stronger as you bring it online.

All subject areas are needed: English Language Arts, Math, Science, History, Civics, Foreign Languages and Career Connected courses.
